Why being a travel writer is not the perfect occupation

I write travel features for newspapers and magazines around the globe, and run the Horizon Writers' Group, which syndicates travel stories to member newspapers. I also write on China's culture and politics for various publications, write guide books and reference works on China, and contribute to and edit China titles in several series. None of this has anything to do with going on holiday. A holiday would be two weeks on the couch at home with a pile of good books to read and no deadlines.
